The Senior 1 Football Championship action gets underway between St. Judes and Kilmacud Crokes at 3:15pm
Dublin Senior 1 Football Championship
St. Judes v Kilmacud Crokes
Sunday, November 21st. 3:15pm
Parnell Park Dublin
A repeat of the 2018 Senior 1 Football Championship Final is set to throw in later today as Kilmacud Crokes and St. Judes square off for the 2021 County Silverware. The Hurling and Football Championship double is still in the cards for Crokes after picking up the Senior A Hurling title last weekend. And the Stillorgan men are aiming to win their 9th Football Crown. For Judes, they edge closer to their first.
Both sides traversed their group phase to qualify for the Quarter Finals. Crokes were put to the test by Na Fianna, having to dig really deep to hang onto a 2 point lead in the 1-11 to 0-12 last eight clash.
Judes dominated Thomas Davis in their quarter final with a 3-14 to 0-15 victory. Thomas Davis did fight back to a 2 point half time gap, but Judes powered through the second half and 2 late goals saw the Tymon North men pull away in the end to secure a semi final spot.
Having played each other in the opening round, Judes met Lucan Sarsfield again on the Semi Finals. The 1-14 a piece draw was a distant memory. Lucan struggled for large parts of the game, where Judes looked like they were peaking at the right time. Sarsfields pushed for the final 10 minutes of the game mounting a comeback, but it was short lived as Judes had done enough throughout the game to secure a final berth.
Crokes put rivals Ballyboden St. Endas to the sword in their Semi. They took a 1-09 to 0-03 lead into the second half and with 5 minutes to play they held a 12 point lead. Boden did close the gap thanks in part to a Simon Lambert goal late on. But it was only a consolation as Crokes eased into the Championship decider.
