Can Dublin record a fourth TG4 Senior Ladies Championship in a row this afternoon with all eyes on Croke Park?
Dublin v Cork
Sunday, December 20th. 3:30pm
Croke Park, Dublin
The day has arrived, and as the curtain comes down on what has been an extraordinary year in the world, we focus our attention on GAA Headquarters one last time. The TG4 Senior Ladies Football Championship takes centre stage as two old rivals meet once more.
Reigning Champions Dublin look to write another chapter in their history as they try and retain the All Ireland title, one they’ve held now for three consecutive years. Cork will have other ideas.
Between them they’ve held the honour for 15 years, with this year being the 16th. This is Dublin seventh consecutive final appearance, losing the first three to Cork in 2014, 2015 and 2016. They beat Mayo in 2017, and finally got a championship decider victory over the Leesiders in 2018. They last met in Championship action in last year’s Semi Final with Dublin successfully mapping their course to becoming eventual champions for the third time in a row.
Just two counties in the history of the Senior Championship have claimed four successive titles during winning runs; Cork and Kerry. Dublin, appearing in a seventh straight Final, have the chance to join that elite band.
There’s one change for Dublin from the semi-final victory over Armagh – with Niamh McEvoy replacing Sarah McCaffrey.
Cork are unchanged from the team that accounted for Galway at the semi-final stage.
