Lidl National Football League

DCU is our first stop today for Dublin’s Lidl Natoinal Football League Clash with Monaghan

Dublin v Monaghan
Saturday, March 16th. 5:00pm
DCU St.Clare’s, Dublin

In the spirit of true Champions, Dublin’s Senior Ladies have bounced back from their opening day defeat to Donegal. Reeling off three straight wins on the bounce they’ve put themselves firmly in the hunt to retain their title. With three games to go, Mick Bohan’s side have settled in nicely. He’s blooding new names and bringing the more experienced back into the fray as the games go on.

This evening will be Dublin’s third home game in a row. Monaghan make the trip to DCU, still looking for their first win of the campaign. Four defeats at the hands of Westmeath, Galway, Donegal and Cork have made the climb up the table a seriously steep one for the girls from the Farney county. And they find themselves playing for their Division 1 safety. A heavy defeat to Cork in their last fixture will not help their nerves and Dublin will look to pounce on their vulnerability this evening with home advantage.

Mick Bohan has made as many as nine changes to his starting 15 for today’s game with Rachel Fleming, Martha Byrne, Sinead Goldrick, Jennifer Dunne, Siobhan McGrath, Hannah O’Neill, Lyndsey Davey, Niamh Hetherton and captain Sinéad Aherne all named in the starting line-up. And they replace Ciara Trant, Niamh Collins, Emma McDonagh, Aoife Kane, Carla Rowe, Éabha Rutledge, Nicole Owens, Kate Sullivan and Oonagh Whyte.

Monaghan have made just one change in personnel to the team well beaten by Cork last time out, with Abbie McCarey coming in for Lisa Flynn.
