THE Ladies Gaelic Football Association is pleased to announced details of the 2018 Lidl Gaelic4MothersandOthers Blitz Day.

It will take place on October the 6th at Naomh Mearnóg GAA club in Portmarnock, Dublin.

The Blitz Day is completely recreational and all players and mentors are asked to treat the Blitz in a fun and ‘fair play’ manner.

Please note the following information in relation to entry details and applications are invited NOW!

  1. The Entry fee is €200 per Team.
  2. Panel sizes are a maximum of 20 players per team.
  3. Entry is limited to one team per club.

Teams should also note that your Entry Form will not be accepted without the Entry Fee. Entry Fees cannot be paid on the day of the Blitz.

The LGFA wishes to point out that last year’s event was over-subscribed and that entries for the 2018 blitz should be submitted as soon as possible.

An estimated 2000 women took part in the fun last year and as this is not a day for competition, no scores will be recorded!

The day is planned to be family-oriented with a festival atmosphere and the LGFA encourages all teams to bring supporters to assist in creating a huge family day out.

Gaelic4MothersandOthers title sponsors Lidl will also be present on the day and working with the Association, while the 2FM Roadcaster will also be on site.

Closing date for entries is September 7 and all entry forms should be submitted to Ladies Gaelic Football Offices in Croke Park.

Post Blitz Entertainment:

The LGFA are delighted to announce that they will be hosting some Post Blitz Entertainment.

This year, commencing at 3.30pm a band will be playing in the hall of the Clubhouse, facilitating some dancing and rehydration. The band will be followed by a DJ until 7 p.m.

A BBQ will also be available for teams to purchase post blitz refreshments from.  We would encourage all teams to factor in the post blitz entertainment when booking your buses, etc.

G4M&O Programme Ethos:

All Gaelic4MothersandOthers sites should familiarise themselves with the G4M&O programme ethos. All sites should read below and agree to abide by these terms at all times.

• G4M&O is a non-competitive recreational form of Ladies Gaelic Football

• G4M&O is all inclusive. It should always welcome women over the age of 21 and who currently do not play any form of competitive club football and would like to play. They cannot be a registered player with any LGFA club

• All G4M&O training sessions are fun orientated with the focus on learning the skills of our game, developing social skills and providing an opportunity for women to be physically active

• All G4M&O blitzes are about participation and not winning. There are no winners or losers at G4M&O Blitzes and no scores are recorded. Blitzes should aim to allow women to meet other G4M&O Sites while having fun playing small sided matches

• All G4M&O Clubs must seek prior approval from the National Development Officer prior to hosting G4M&O Blitzes and challenge games.
