Clanna Gael Fontenoy take on Donaghmore this afternoon in the Leinster Intermediate last eight clash

Donaghmore v Clanna Gael Fontenoy
Saturday, October 5th. 3:30pm
Donaghmore, Ashbrourne

Ashbourne GAA is the venue for a Meath/Dublin clash when the home side take on Clanna Gael Fontenoy. It promises to be a great Leinster Intermediate Ladies Football Quarter Final.

Donaghmore Ashbourne survived a late St Paul’s rally last weekend. But they defeated the Laois champions by 4-12 to 4-08 to book their place in the quarter finals. They were well served by Meath Captain Máire O’Shaughnessy. And aided by county team-mates Aoibhín Cleary, Síofra Cleary and Catríona O’Shaughnessy.

Clanna Gael Fontenoy came out on top last weekend against Carbury, winning on a 3-13 to 1-07 scoreline. It sets up a fascinating quarter final clash today.

In the Dublin Intermediate Final, a late two-point salvo from the magnificent Rebecca McDonnell helped Clanna Gael Fontenoy secure the title.

With just under four minutes remaining in a titanic battle, Clanna found themselves level with southside rivals Cuala. The prospect of extra-time was looming large as a result, but McDonnell and Clanna Gael had enough in reserve to get themselves over the line.

Rebecca’s final haul of 0-5 made her scorer-in-chief for the victors, while Kate McKenna and Aisling Leonard also aided the Fontenoy cause with goals in each half. Fresh from helping Dublin to secure a third consecutive All Ireland title, Jennifer Dunne was at her imperious best for Cuala.

It will be that refuse to die approach from Clanna Gael that they’ll bring in to today’s game in the hope of advancing to the last four.
