The 2019 Leinster U16 Championship Sees A Highly Anticipated Rematch Between Dublin And Meath

Tomorrow in Ballymore Eustace GAA Dublin and Meath Meet for the second time this season this time in the Leinster U16 Championship Final with the action at the Kildare venue starting at 2pm.

Dublin’s Leinster campaign to date hasn’t been plain sailing and has included a mixed bag performance wise.

The opening round of this seasons competition against Longford turned into an epic battle. Dublin’s young team eventually got the better of their midland opponents in an eleven goal thriller with the final score 6-06 (24) to 5-06 (21).

On to round two and a meeting with old foes and near neighbors Meath. Dublin were brought back down to earth as they suffered a 15 point mauling from the Royal County with the Dub’s going down by 1-08 (11) to 6-08(26).

Meath full forward Amy O’Leary was in excellent form that day causing major problems for the Dublin defence and by the full time whistle O’Leary had amassed a personnel total of 4-02, Dublin will certainly have to come up with a game plan to curb the Meath attacker in tomorrow’s final.

That result left Declan Darcy’s team needing to beat reigning U16 Leinster champions Kildare in round 3 to make this seasons Leinster championship final.

And beat them they did by a commanding 28 point margin. Goals from Aisling O’Neill and Katie Sullivan with two each and one a piece from Emma Howe and Ava Corcoran helped Dublin on the way to a 6-16 to 1-03 victory and a place in the 2019 U16 Leinster Final and a highly anticipated rematch with Meath.

Dublin held the U16 Leinster championship title for 8 years before relinquishing it to Kildare last season. The young Dubs will be aiming to reclaim the title tomorrow and bring the cup back to the Capital.

It should be an exciting and action filled Leinster final to look forward to tomorrow and when the action gets underway at 2pm there will be LIVE score by score updates over on the We Are Dublin GAA Twitter account @wearedub
