It’s another big evening of football across the capital with the Dublin LGFA Senior and Intermediate club championship semi-finals and Junior B final down for decision.

There will be new Senior club champions crowned this season after Foxrock Cabinteely’s seven year reign ended with defeat to St Sylvesters last week.

The semi-final pairings this evening sees an unbeaten Kilmacud Crokes who topped Group A take on a St Sylvesters side who swept all before them last season to claim the intermediate county, provincial and All Ireland titles and are now just sixty plus minutes from the Senior county final.

The second semi final involves last season finalist Na Fianna and Thomas Davis. Na Fianna who defeated Clontarf last week by 3-19 to 5-08 to secure top spot in Group B and secure their semi final place, will be determined to return to the county decider this season with feelings that they left one behind last year as a huge driving factor.

But Thomas Davis are not just there to make up the numbers and had secured their semi final spot with three impressive wins in their opening three games. They did lose their final group game to Crokes but with their place in the knockout stages already in the bag before that encounter it’s difficult to read too much into that result.

The Intermediate semi-finals pit Fingallians looking for a swift return to the Senior ranks against Castleknock who finished runner-up in Group A with two wins a loss and draw. Fingallians unbeaten in their four group games and with home advantage will be seen as clear favourites to get the result this evening.

The other intermediate semi-final will be between Parnells and Clann Mhuire in St Anne’s. Parnells topped Group A with four wins and racked up some eye catching scoreline which include sixteen goals across their four games.

Clann Mhuire had a mixed bag of results in Group B with two wins and two losses, but they are not shy at finding the back of the net with eleven goals scored across their four games to date and they showed plenty of character last week in securing the win over Ballinteer St Johns to grab a place in the semi finals and although Parnells will be seen as favourites this evening this one could be close.

The Junior B club championship final will be contested by Kilmacud Crokes B and St Brendans. Both sides finished second in their respective groups suffering just one defeat on route to the semi finals where they were up against the two group winners Erins Isle and Ballyboughal who they both defeated to set-up an intriguing final.

St Brendans have come close to claiming the Junior B title over the past two seasons but just came up short in both finals losing to St Peregrines last season after a replay and the previous season to Scoil Uí Chonaill. Will it be third time lucky for St Brendan’s this evening, time will tell, but Kilmacud Crokes B are a very good outfit and this one will probably go down to the wire.
