Round 2 of the Dublin LGFA Club Championship took place on Wednesday night with a host of crunch games as the race for places in the knockout stages of this year’s various championships continued.

The Senior championship threw up some interesting fixtures none more so than the Group A meeting of Foxrock Cabinteely and St Brigids which was a repeat of last year’s county final.

Once again it was Foxrock who prevailed as they raised five green flags on the night in a fifteen point win on a scoreline of 5-11 to 1-08.

In the other Group A game Na Fianna played hosts to Clontarf who were playing there first senior championship game of this seasons competition after a bye in round one. And the inactive week did Clontarf no harm as they notched a vital 8 point victory with the final score 3-11 to 2-06.

The two Group B winners in round 1 of the senior championship Thomas Davis and Kilmacud Crokes faced off against each other on Wednesday evening and Crokes made it two wins from two with a seven point victory over Davis on a scoreline of 3-15 to 3-08.

Fingallians and Ballyboden St Endas both suffered opening round defeats which added a bit of extra spice to their meeting in Lawless Park on Wednesday evening with both teams needing a much needed win to reignite their championship claims. And three crucial goals in the game gave Ballyboden the vital win with the final score 3-07 to 0-11.

Group A of the Intermediate championship pitted Clann Mhuire who drew with Castleknock last week in round one against Clanna Gael Fontenoy who lost to Cuala in round 1. Clanna Gael brushed that defeat aside to record a much needed win by 6-19 to 2-09.

The other Group game was between Cuala and Castleknock and it was the Dalkey outfit who claimed their second win in a row with the final score 3-15 to 2-05.

Parnells and St Maurs met in Goup B of the Intermediate championship, Parnells played out a thrilling high scoring tie last week against Skerries Harps with the Coolock side coming out the right side of that one. They continued their high scoring exploits on Wednesday to brush aside the St Maurs challenge to claim their second championship win by 6-17 to 1-05.

Skerries Harps were unlucky to lose last weeks round 1 encounter against Parnells by a single point and headed to play a Lucan Sarsfields side who claimed an away draw against St Maurs in the previous round.

Skerries though were not to be denied this week and had 10 points to spare at the finish with the full time score 3-14 to 1-10.

In the Junior A championship there were wins for O’Dwyers over Naomh Barrog and Man O War over St Jude’s in Group A, while in Group B Raheny came out on top of Templeogue Synge Street in a high scoring game and Ballinteer St Johns claimed a two point win over Garda/Westmanstown Gaels.
