Thirty nine adult league cup round 2 fixtures are down for decision this evening
Seventy eight teams are in action tonight as thirty nine Dublin LGFA adult league cup round 2 fixtures take place across the county.
There is a big southside derby in Pairc Uí Mhurchu in Group 1 of Division 1 as Ballyboden St Endas take on Kilmacud Crokes.
Both sides lost their opening round fixture so both will be gunning to record their first win to get their campaign off and running.
Another derby on the southside of the city takes place in the picturesque setting of Dalkey as Cuala host Dublin ladies football club champions Foxrock Cabinteely.
Cuala suffered a narrow one point loss in round one against Clanna Gael Fontenoy and a second loss in a row will put them under pressure for the rest of the competition.
But they face a serious task to stop a Foxrock side that looked in menacing form in round one as they hit four goals past Ballyboden St Endas in a thirteen point win.
The final game in Group 1 will put two teams that enjoyed opening day wins. Hosts Thomas Davis recorded a very good away win against Kilmacud Crokes by a scoreline of 2-07 to 1-08 and will fancy their chances of making it two wins from two on their home turf.
Clanna Gael Fontenoy battled to secure a one point victory in round one and are a difficult side to break down and they will need all of their battling qualities at Kiltipper Road this evening to get a result.
Group 2
In Group 2 of Division 1 Clontarf welcome the visit of St Brigids to St Annes. This will be the home sides first outing in the competition so will look to get off to a winning start.
Their opponents St Brigids recorded an eight point victory in their opening game against St Sylvesters and raised six green flags in the game and will be full of confidence for this evenings game.
Clontarf are capable of racking up sizable scoring totals and this one could be a high scoring thriller out on the coast.
Parnells will hope to make home advantage count and bounce back from their heavy nine point round 1 defeat to Fingallians as the Coolock outfit host Castleknock in Chanel.
Tonight’s game is Castleknock’s first in the competition and they won’t want to start on the back foot in what is a very competitive group but Parnells are a formidable opponent on their home patch so this could be a tight one.
The final game in group two sees St Sylvesters take on Fingallians at Broomfield.
Sylvesters suffered a defeat to St Brigids in round 1 in what was an entertaining game with both sides registering twelve scores each, but six of the scores that Sylvesters conceded were goals.
Their opponents this evening Fingallians enjoyed a comfortable nine point victory over Parnells in round one scoring five goals in the game and will be confident at securing a second win.
St Sylvesters can I’ll afford a second defeat in a row but they will certainly have to tighten up at the back as Fingallians have already demonstrated that given goal opportunities they a very capable of taking them.
