The Dublin Ladies Football adult club championships draw threw up a number of very interesting groups
The Dublin LGFA adult club championships draw for the senior, intermediate and junior grades took place this afternoon live on Facebook.
The draws for the highly anticipated championships threw up a number of very interesting groups which should guarantee a number intriguing and exciting encounters over weeks and months ahead.
There are two groups in the senior championship with five teams in each.
County champions Foxrock Cabinteely find themselves in Group 1 alongside Thomas Davis whom they met in a thrilling semi-final last season, St Sylvesters who boast a number of Dublin senior players, including captain Sinead Aherne, Niamh McEvoy, Nicole Owens and Kate Sullivan.
Also in Group 1 are Na Fianna and 2018 All Ireland intermediate club champions Clontarf with both clubs eager to make their mark on this year’s competition.
Group 2 is another tough group which includes the 2019 county finalists Kilmacud Croke who lost narrowly to Foxrock Cabinteely after extra-time in a pulsating final last season.
Also in Group 2 are 2018 finalists St Brigids who will have their eye on another good run in the championship and Ballyboden St Endas the most successful club team in the senior championship with ten titles to their name will hope to end a decade barren spell and reclaim the title they once owned all to themselves.
The final two teams in the group are Swords outfit Fingallians who will be aiming to add their second senior title to the one they claimed in 2013 and Clanna Gael Fontenoy pursuing two county titles in successive years after claiming the 2019 intermediate ladies football crown.
The intermediate championship is also split into two groups, Group 1 comprises Cuala, Skerries Harps, Castleknock and Man O War and the Group 2 teams are St Maurs, Clann Mhuire, Lucan Sarsfields and Parnells.
Both groups look extremely competitive, in Group 1 last years beaten finalists Cuala will be determined to go one better this season and claim the title but they will encounter some stiff opposition in their group.
Group 2 could be an extremely tight affair, a tasty local derby between St Maurs and Clann Mhuire could set the tone for the group and an exciting Parnells team and Lucan Sarsfields will fancy their chances of progressing deep in the championship.
The Junior A championship groups will be hard to call, Raheny are joined in Group 1 by Garda/Westmanstown Gaels, St Judes and Ballinteer St Johns while Group 2 comprises Templeogue Synge St, Naomh Barrog, Ballyboden St Endas and O’Dwyers.
The championship action gets underway on Wednesday the 29th of July and we will have the fixtures, venues and throw-in times in due course.
