Ballymun Kickhams are to welcome back to their club a former All Ireland winning captain and Ballymun’s most famous footballing daughter, Denise Masterson after her transfer was ratified by the county board earlier in the week.
Masters captained Dublin to their first and so far only All Ireland title back in 2010, Denise a powerful midfielder always led by example, non more so than the Jackies 3-16 to 0-09 All Ireland Final victory over Tyrone.
Denise retired from inter county action after the 2014 season but continued to play at club level, she will bring a wealth of experience, guile and leadership to a very promising and young Ballymun side for 2017.
Speaking about the transfer Denise had this to say, “I am delighted and very excited to be once again representing Ballymun Kickhams. It was always my intention to one day return to my home club and am very excited about the coming season”.
We have a very young and enthusiastic panel of players with plenty of ability and i am looking forward to being a part of a very exciting future for ladies football in Ballymun.
“I wish also to acknowledge my previous club Naomh Mearnog without whom I would not have achieved what I have over the years. I wish them every success in the future”
