Join us this afternoon for Dublin’s Leinster Senior Hurling clash with Carlow in Netwatch Cullen Park
Carlow v Dublin
Sunday, June 2nd. 3:00pm
Netwatch Cullen Park
All eyes will be on Netwatch Cullen Park this afternoon, as Dublin’s fate is certainly in their own hands. But victory is the only outcome to ensure a good finishing position in the Leinster Senior Hurling table and an extended season into the All Ireland Series.
Sean Moran’s last gasp score forced a draw against Wexford. And that ensures Dublin travel to Carlow believing a top three finish can be secured.
Kilkenny’s second half performance on the opening weekend did hurt Dublin. But Mattie Kenny’s charges produced a gutsy display when dividing the spoils with Wexford.
It was a unusual game as Dublin hit the front, but a smart Wexford rally had the home team trailing by three in stoppage time at Parnell Park.
Moran’s intervention means that Dublin remain very much involved in the race to earn a place in the All Ireland series.
Carlow caused Galway some bother, but Kilkenny struck early and often to ensure the second game wasn’t as close.
Colm Bonnar drew positives with Carlow’s second half efforts supplying a glimmer of hope. Christy Ring and Joe McDonagh Cup champions in the past two years, Carlow have travelled a considerable distance.
There’s a lot at stake this afternoon. Dublin must win to keep their championship alive. And Carlow will also need a positive result to help keep their Leinster Hurling Championship status for another year and avoid a return to the Joe McDonagh Cup.
