We’ll have all the action from Dublin’s Round 2 game in the Leinster Minor Hurling Championship

Leinster Minor Hurling Championship

Dublin v Offaly
Saturday, May 4th. 2:00pm
Parnell Park, Dublin

The sun is shining in the capital. Some people are even calling it Summer, but we’re not sure if that’s a thing this year. How and ever it’s a perfect day for a game of small ball. And Dublin’s Minor Hurlers will be looking to get back on track this afternoon. They face Offaly in Round 2 of the Leinster Minor Hurling Championship. Despite a well worked performance in the opening round, it was Kilkenny who came away with the spoils. A late snatch and grab in Nowlan Park saw the cats steal the victory.

Dublin boss Mike Connolly has tipped his cap to the side that started against Kilkenny. He’s named an unchanged 15 to start this afternoon’s game. Offaly come into today’s fixture on the back of an opening round defeat to Wexford so there’s a lot riding on today’s game for both sides. And it’s all about the finishing position in Tier 1. The top two teams at the end of round 3 advance automatically to the Semi Finals of the Championship. The bottom two will face an extra game, and will play a Quarter Final game.

In last year’s competition, Dublin also lost their opening game to Kilkenny, but followed that with two consecutive wins over Laois and Wexford. And while they’d probably prefer not to have to play a last eight game, they did so last year and came through the knockouts with flying colours. And that culminated in a 6-19 to 7-12 thriller in the Leinster Final, with Dublin beating Kilkenny to take the silverware.
