It’s the final round of this years Go Ahead Dublin Senior 1 Hurling Championship with knockout place up for grabs

Senior 1 Hurling Championship

Not all eyes will be on GAA headquarters this weekend with Garth Brooks mania taking over the capital. There’s some serious action to absorb this afternoon and early evening as 8 teams go head to head in the final round of this year’s Go Ahead Dublin Senior 1 Hurling Championship. And things are fairly tight in both groups with a lot at stake for knockout places today. Lets get into the details.

Dublin Senior 1 Hurling Championship
Group 1
St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh v Na Fianna
Saturday, September 10th. 5:30pm. O’Toole Park
Cuala v Ballyboden St. Endas
Saturday, September 10th. 5:30pm. Parnell Park

Both Ballyboden St. Endas and Cuala share the top spot in the Group 1 table. And facing each other today will really be to decide who finishes the group as winners advancing automatically to the Semi Finals and who as runner up. Both of these sides wil want the luxury of avoiding a Quarter Final scrap.BUt who wil be the toughest.

St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh and Na Fianna will play for that crucial third place spot which will reward them an opportunity to play out a Quarter Final. Both have suffered defeats to Cuala and Ballyboden, but both have beaten St. Judes to keep them in with a chance.

Group 2
St. Vincents v Kilmacud Crokes
Saturday, September 10th. 3:45pm. Parnell Park
St. Brigids v Lucan Sarsfields
Saturday, September 10th. 3:45pm. O’Toole Park

There’s a slightly tighter feel to the Group 2 table. At the moment reigning Champions Kilmacud Crokes have a 1 point advantage over today’s opponents St. Vincents, meaning today’s match up could go either way. Vincents have the opportunity to leapfrog Crokes into the top spot should they win this afternoon, but that will be a tough ask with Crokes winning all three games so far quite comfortably.

Elsewhere St. Brigids will look to secure another 2 points this evening. They have a strong chance of finishing in third position but could still end as runners up should Crokes beat Vincents. Lucan also have an outside chance but unless they are victors over Brigids today by a good margin they will finish in fourth position.

Join us later to round up all results and look ahead to the first set of knock out games in this Hurling Championship. And later today we’ll have a full run down on tomorrow’s action in the Dublin Senior and Inter Camogie Championships
