The final round of the Senior 1 Hurling Championship is complete and the draw is made for the Quarter Finals

With four wins from four Cuala come out on top of Group 1 and will advance to this year’s Senior 1 Hurling Semi finals avoiding a quarter final scrum. That task will be left up to Ballyboden St. Endas and Na Fianna. Boden ran Cuala close yesterday at Parnell Park with Cuala eventually pulling away in the last quarter of the proceedings. The side were neck and neck for large parts of the game but ultimately it was the Dalkey side who ascended in the final stages. Boden will still advance to a quarter final despite the result.

In the other group 1 clash despite a valiant effort from St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh, Na Fianna secured a 2 point win and book their place in the competition’s quarter final slots. This win combined with their victory over St. Judes in Round 1 sees the Mobhi Road men over the line. With Plunketts beating Judes in Round 3 it sees them avoid the bottom spot in the table were Judes lie.

St. Vincents 3-18 (27) Kilmacud Crokes 2-25 (31)

Despite a 2-25 to 3-18 defeat at the hands of Kilmacud Crokes yesterday, St. Vincents will still advance from Group 2 to take their place in the Championship Quarter Finals. The victory sees Champions Crokes through with four wins from four games and will await a quarter final winner. Vincents Round 2 draw with St. Brigids was the difference between themselves and Lucan Sarsfields who finished a point behind them in teh group table.

Lucan’s 2-17 to 1-11 win yesterday secured the third place finish. Brigids end the rounds in 4th position and miss out on a knockout spot.

The Quarter Final draw took place last night. Ballyboden St. Endas are drawn against Lucan Sarsfield and St. Vincents go head to head with Na Fianna. The details of these two fixtures will be confirmed at a later date.
