It’s Kilkenny for Mattie Kenny’s Dublin Senior Hurlers in their first National Hurling League game of 2020
Dublin Senior Hurling Manager Mattie Kenny will look to build on what was fairly solid 2019 League campaign, as his side face a slight change in the league format this year.
Division 1A and 1B of the 2020 Allianz National Hurling League will now be labelled Group a and Group B. Both Groups consist consist of teams of various strength instead of the ranked 1A and 1B of the previous years.
For Dublin, they’ve been drawn against Carlow, Clare, Laois, Wexford and Kilkenny, who will be Dublin’s first opponents of the campaign.
That opening game will take place in Nowlan Park on Sunday, January 26th, and is one of three away trips for the boys in blue. In Round 3 they’ll head to Netwatch Cullen Park to face Carlow. And Cusack Park in Ennis is the destination for their final round as they face Clare.
Of the two home ties for the Dubs, their first will be against Laois, in Parnell Park. Laois were responsible for knocking Mattie Kenny’s side out of this year’s All Ireland Championship, beating them in O’Moore Park in a Qualifying Quarter Final.
Their second home tie will be played as part of a Dublin Double Header in Croke Park. They’ll face Davy Fitzgerald’s Wexford side as the opening game, with the Dublin Senior Footballers taking on Donegal in the second game of the evening.
