Senior A Hurling Championship

Craobh Chiarain v St. Brigids
Sunday, October 6th. 2:30pm
Parnell Park, Dublin

This afternoon see a massive double header of action in the Senior A Hurling Championship as the last four in the competition square off to decide this year’s finalists.

Cuala and St. Vincents will lock horns in today’s second game, but we’ll focus our attention on today’s opener between Craobh Chiarain and St. Brigids.

Craobh Chiarain were 3-14 to 2-13 victors over Lucan Sarsfield in their Quarter Final having ran through the round robin phases unbeaten. They saw off the challenges of St. Vincents, St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh and Naomh Fionnbarra to top Group 3.

Against Lucan, they got out of the traps early with Kieran McGouran scoring two goals. And by the third minute a Francis Usanga point had them at 2-01 to 0-01, and Lucan never recovered. Usanga would score Craobh’s third before half time. Chris Crummey registered two goals for Lucan, but they were on the back foot having been rattled by Craobhs early.

St. Brigids enter today’s competition having beaten hotly favoured Na Fianna in their Quarter Final. The sides were deadlocked at 1-09 a piece at the break but the Russell Park men pushed on in the second.

Goals either side of half time from Johnny McGuirk and Kevin Callaghan proved crucial for Brigids to advance.

Only dropping points to Cuala in the Group 2 competition, Brigids saw off St. Judes and Ballinteer St. Johns to finish second in the table.

A great game to start today’s action.
