We’ll have all the action from this afternoon’s Dublin Senior A Hurling Final between Cuala and St. Brigids
Cuala v St. Brigids
Sunday, October 20th. 4:00pm
It’s the biggest day in the county hurling calendar as the last two teams standing go into battle for the Dublin Senior A Hurling Championship title. The winner will advance to this year’s provincial competition in the hope of representing Dublin at the All Ireland Club Championships.
After a year out, Cuala return to the championship final today, aiming to capture their seventh county title. The Dalkey men completed three championships in a row between 2015 and 2017, and were also crowned Leinster and All Ireland Champions twice in that period. Since the departure of former manager Mattie Kenny, Willie Maher has rebuilt the southsiders and Cuala look as primed and ready as they’ve done in recent years.
With Southside taking on Northside this afternoon, St. Brigids come into today’s game as pure underdogs. The Russell Park outfit, under the watchful eye of Johnny McGuirk have taken the label with gusto, seeing off the challenge of Na Fianna and Craobh Chiarain in the knockouts to reach only their second ever Senior A Final. And if they finish successful today it will be a first ever Senior A Hurling title for the club.
Both Cuala and St. Brigids competed in Group 2 of this year championship, with Cuala finishing top of the table. In their Round 1 tie against each other it was the Dalkey men who were 3-26 to 1-13 victors. But based on the form of St. Brigids in the last two knock out games, today should be a much tighter affair.
