The last eight in this year’s Dublin Senior A Hurling Championship is now clear after today’s Round 3 results
Well what a weekend of action. And the Dublin Seior A Hurling Championship has now reached the knock out stages. After yesterday and today’s games we now know the 8 teams that will contest the competition’s Quarter Finals.
The Quarter-Finals will take the following format: winners of Group 1 v runners-up in Group 2; runners-up Group 1 v winners Group 2; winners Group 3 v runners-up Group 4; runners-up Group 3 v winners Group 4. Here’s the details of all the weeekend’s games.
Go Ahead Dublin Senior A Hurling Championship
Disappointment for Whitehall Colmcille but elation for Craobh Chiarain earlier today. Craobh Chairain picked up a vital win in the final round to secure the runners up slot in Group 1 with a 3-25 to 2-12 win over their northside rivals.
In the other group game, Na Fianna completed a perfect Round Robin phase with a 1-18 to 0-12 win over Ballinteer St. Johns. That means Na Fianna will face the runners up in Group 2 and Chraobh Chiarain taking on the winners of that group.
It’s a clean sweep for Lucan Sarsfield as they’ve just beaten St. Vincents at Parnell Park on a 1-19 to 0-18 scoreline. That results see them stay at the top of Group 2 and sets up a Quarter Final against Craobh Chiarain.
A 1-25 to 1-14 win for St. Judes against Setanta see them beat Vincents to the runner up slot and put them in a last eight clash with Na Fianna.
Kilmacud Crokes had already secured their Quarter Final berth after Round 2, and a 1-26 to 0-14 victory over Thomas yesterday only solidified that more at the top of the table.
The decider for the second Quarter Final slot was between Cuala and St. Brigids with both going into today’s game level on points. And it was Cuala that come out of the game with a 3-18 to 1-23 victory, end Brigids championship campaign.
Ballyboden St. Endas will relish the opportunity of facing rivals Cuala in the Quarter Finals. Their 2-27 to 1-10 win over Scoil Ui Chonaill cemented their top spot in the group, making it three wins from three games.
Meanwhile St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh beat Faughs to the punch for the second Quarter Final slot with yesterday’s 1-22 to 1-17 win. And they’ll face Kilmacud Crokes in the last eight.
