Wins for Boden, Na Fianna, Vincents and Kilmacud in the opening round of this year’s Hurling Championship

Senior 1 Hurling Championship

In the blink of an eye the opening round of this year’s Dublin Senior 1 Hurling Championship has been played out. And as the teams prepare again for Round 2 let go through the results from the openers.

Senior 1 Hurling, Group 1

Ballyboden St. Endas couldn’t have asked for a better start last night as they saw off St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh on a 8-18 to 1-17 scoreline. With the score on 2-12 to 0-10 at the halfway mark of the game, Boden pushed on scoring 6 second half goals to completely dominate proceedings. And that puts them in a great position as the face St. Judes in O’Toole Park this Saturday evening.

Judes fell foul to last year’s beaten finalists Na Fianna last night. Na Fianna picking up on that form from last season recorded a 3-20 to 1-17 victory in the opening game of the Parnell Park double header.

Saturday will be a bye for Na Fianna as Cuala bounce into action facing Plunketts who’ll look to bounce back. And Ballyboden will square off with Judes, both ganes taking place in O’Toole Park.

Senior 1 Hurling, Group 2

O’Toole Park was the host venue for this week’s Group 2 Round 1 fixtures, and St. Vincents and Kilmacud Crokes came out victorious over Tuesday night and last night.

After a disappointing 2021 Championship campaign, St. Vincents got this year’s rounds off to a more positive start, beating Lucan Sarsfield by 2-18 to 0-21. The Marino men tralied Lucan by a point at half time on 0-12 to 1-08 but bounced back into action to finish 3 points the better of their opponents. They’ll head for Parnell Park this Saturday with their tales up to face St. Brigids who come in after sitting out Round 1.

Reigning Senior 1 Hurling Champions Kilmacud Crokes picked up where they left off with an opening round win over Craobh Chiarain. Chiarains lost out to Lucan in last year’s hurling championship quarter finals and will have wanted to get off to a better start. But coming up against the Dublin Champions in their opener was always going to be a tricky task.

Crokes can now enjoy their bye in the next round after their 0-27 to 0-14 win, with Chiarains facing Lucan on Saturday in Parnell Park.
