Late scores from Oisin O’Rorke, Ronan Hayes and Cian O’Cathasaigh saw Crokes dig deep and lift the Senior 1 Hurling title for the second year in a row. And it capped an incredible county achievement being crowned top flight football and hurling champions for a second consecutive season.

And it was heartbreak again for Na Fianna who not only lost out in last week’s Senior Football decider, but this was a repeat of last year’s Hurling head to head. Fergal Whitely and Donal Burke traded scores in the early going but Crokes soon took hold of the tie with unanswered points from O’Rorke, Michael Roche and Alex Considine. But an impressive sideline cut from Sean Currie picked Na Fianna up and launched them back into action. By the 18th the sides were level with Burke doing what he does best for the Mobhi Road men.

The scoreboard kept ticking for Crokes with Considine and O’Rorke putting their noses in front, but Andrew Jamieson Murphy and Burke kept this an competitive contest. O’Rorke converted another free however to give Crokes a 0-10 to 0-09 lead heading into the Parnell Park dressing rooms for the break.

on the restart Na Fianna proved worthy of their final berth. Burke, Jamieson Murphy and Diarmuid Clerkin registered 4 scores between them to give their side a 0-16 to 0-13 advantage heading into the final quarter. But big game experience and a cold calm Crokes cancelled the defecit with scores from O’Rorke and Darragh Purcell. an eleventh point from Burke saw Na Fianna edge in front again.

Crokes lost Considine to a straight red card with 2 minutes remaining, but it didn’t dent their confidence. Hayes, O’Cathasaigh and O’Rorke finished out the game with 4 scores between them to seal the deal and retain the Dublin Senior Hurling Championship.
