Get your tickets for this weekend’s All Ireland Preliminary Hurling Quarter Final
Laois v Dublin
Sunday, July 7th. 4:15pm
O’Moore Park, Portlaoise
Dublin and Laois have already met twice this season, but on Sunday there’s a lot more on the line as both sides will be looking to advance to the Quarter Finals of this year’s All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship.
Dublin finished this in the Leinster Championship table following a final day victory over Galway in Parnell Park. They result could have landed them a Leinster Final slot but Kilkenny and Wexford drew in their final game and ended Dublin’s provincial dream.
Laois reach this Sunday’s preliminary game following their Joe McDonagh Cup victory over Westmeath. That result sees Westmeath face Cork in their preliminary game.
Should Dublin be victorious this Sunday, it will see them face Tipperary for a place in the competition’s last four against either Limerick or Wexford.
In the most recent meetings between Dublin and Laois, both games were close calls with Dublin edging a win on the two occasions. In the Walsh Cup, the Dubs travelled to O’Moore Park and by end of the game only two scores seperated the sides. Eamonn Dillon raised a green flag with new boy John Hetherton on dead ball duty converted four free to add to his three from play. PJ Scully and Aaron Dunphy got the line share of Laois’s scores. Scully matched Hetherton’s tally of seven points, with Dunphy scoring 1-03.
The League encounter in Parnell Park was just as tight, again with two scores between them at the final whistle. David Treacy, Danny Sutcliffe, Oisin O’Rorke and Sean Moran the main scoring threats, with Mark Kavanagh and Charles Dwyer doing the shooting for Laois.
We reckon this Sunday will be as tight as those two games and there’s sure to be a high demand for tickets.
