All the action from the Kilmacud Crokes v St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh Dublin SFC game on Thursday evening
Kilmacud Crokes 2-15
St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh 0-17
Kilmacud Crokes held off a battling St Oliver Plunkett’s Eoghan Ruadh by 2-15 to 0-17 in their Dublin SFC1 Group 2 encounter in Parnell Park on Thursday night. Shane Horan continued the goal form he showed against Ballyboden in the last round by scoring 2-1.
The sides were drawing 1-9 to 0-12 at half time but unfortunately for Plunkett’s they drew a baron 25 minute spell in the second half with no score before Seán Bugler finally stuck one over to make it 2-14 to 0-13 points.
Crokes first goal from Shane Horan came in the 19th minute of the first half when he linked up with Pat Burke before sending the ball goal bound.
Horan found that form again twenty minutes into the second half to give Crokes an 0-06 lead.
Plunkett’s certainly finished the game a lot stronger but at this point Crokes had pretty much won the game.
There were some fine scores by both sides in the first half with Paul Mannion setting the bar with his effort. Niall Walsh and Tomás Corrigan, a fifth minute sub for the injured Alan Brogan, both had great first half spells.
But it was Kilmacud’s restart of the second half that sealed the deal. Paul Mannion (2), Dan O’Brien and Cian O’Connor all kicked points for before Horan made the most of a point effort from Mannion dropping short to rattle the Plunkett’s net.
Horan added another point from play leaving the score at 2-14 to 0-12, and as much as Plunkett’s rallied a comeback, it was too little too late.
