Three days on and people are still talking about Saturday night’s enthralling encounter between Dublin and Kerry in Austin Stack Park. By far one of the most heated games between these two sides in quite a while.
And not that anyone needed reminding, but Dublin captain and keeper Stephen Cluxton showed once again why he’s one of, if not the best in the modern game.
A first half chance, with Kerry’s Paul Geaney bearing down on goal, Darren Daly tracking his run only a step off the pace. Despite Philly McMahon racing toward the far post the shot was on and Geaney blasted it toward the net. But Cluxton made himself absolutely huge and managed to get the outstretched fingers of his glove to the ball changing it’s direction and sending it wide of the upright.
We’ve seen the Parnells man stop some shots in his time. And this one will go down as one of the best.
