The 56th minutes was the magic number for Whitehall Colmcille’s Cormac Costello this past Saturday.
And if you want people to remember your name, just like Michael Fitzsimons being named Man Of The Match, you make an impact in the biggest contest of the year.
Cormac has been unfortunate to not feature in much of this year’s Championship, such is the competition for places in the Dublin Forward positions.
But when he was called from the bench by Jim Gavin on Saturday there was only one place Costello’s crosshairs were aimed at.
Within two minutes Cormac got the scoreboard ticking again with an immaculate point and repeated the feat less than a minute later.
And if that wasn’t special enough he capped off his day with Dublin’s final score of the game under huge pressure and almost falling backwards as he sent the ball between the uprights.
Dublin fans have waited to see this young gun stamp his authority and it certainly won’t be the last time we see the likes of this.
