Castleknock 0-11 St. Judes 1-04
Dessie Carlos and his fellow Castleknock team mates made history last night by making it to their first ever Dublin Senior Football Championship Final when they beat St. Judes by 0-04 in the second of this week’s Semi Finals in Parnell Park.
The Castleknock marksman was on form once again putting 0-09 over for his side in a very defensive game on both sides of the field. The first half of this game was a complete stalemate, with both sides only registering the low three scores each. Defence was the order of the evening and left the large Parnell Park crowd wanting more from the second half.
Castleknock eventually got a two score lead at the start of the second session but it was short lived as Kevin McManamon had other things on his mind for Judes, as he made a very clever shot run with the passed ball and gunned it above Morven Connolly’s head and into the top of the net to tilt the scales back in Judes favour.
Unfortunately for McManamon and the rest of the Judes panel, try as they did, that was to be their last score of the evening, and the remaining five scores were to come from Mikey Galvin and of course the star of the night Des Carlos who closed it out with two from play and two from frees.
As the final whistle was blown the ground went into a frenzy as this Castleknock team who have been building for many years now became one step closer to the top of the mountain.
They’ll face a very stern test on November 5th against St. Vincents, but nothing will have stopped them soaking up the atmosphere in Parnell Parnell last night.
