Ballymun Kickhams 0-11 St. Vincents 0-12

One point separated these two giants on Wednesday night in Parnell Park, and St. Vincents held on to advance to this year’s Dublin Senior Football Championship Final.

The atmosphere in Donnycarney was electric as fans filled out the stands and terraces to watch what was expected to be a tightly contested game.

Diarmuid Connolly was once again outstanding for Vincents, slotting four picture perfect scores between the uprights, with Mossy Quinn and Enda Varley again as the support act.

To their credit Ballymun had the better of the early exchanges, with James McCarthy and Dean Rock being denied with a couple of excellent goal chances. Ruairi Traynor also came close but had to settle for a point.

With the sides level at the break it was quite literally all to play for. Early scores for Ted Furman and Enda Varley kept the tone the same in the second. Ballymun found themselves two in front near the halfway point but Connolly and Quinn were quick to claw it back.

From here it was toe to toe, with Vincents pushing backs into attack. Mossy Quinn received two quick yellow cards in succession and was shown the line, and substitute Martin was the difference maker on the scoreboard that saw Vincents through to another county final.

They now face Castleknock on November 5th at Parnell Park for the Championship title.
