The first of two Parnell Parks Double Headers in the Dublin Senior Football Championship took place this past Saturday as Round 2 continued.

St. Judes v Clontarf

St. Judes defeated Clontarf in the opening game on score of 1-15 to 1-03. Judes were just too strong for Clontarf, who only managed one score in the first half from a Maitias MacDonncha free kick. Kevin McManamon spearheaded the Judes charge just a week after claiming yet another All Ireland Championship medal for Dublin, and didn’t show any signs of weariness.

Taking a seven point deficit into the second into the second half was always going to be a tough challenge for Clontarf and try as they did, it simply wasn’t enough, as Judes attacked and scored five unanswered points to take the game away on twenty minutes. Even a Brian Forde goal wasn’t enough to help their cause. Check out the highlights of the game below to catch some of the action.

Kilmacud Crokes v Ballyboden St. Endas

The game most people came to see was a local rivalry. And of course Dublin football fans wanted to see if reigning Dublin, Leinster and All Ireland Champions Ballyboden St. Endas could kick on from last year’s success. In their way unfortunately was a very strong Kilmacud Crokes side who brought their A game, beating the champs 1-14 to 0-09.

A very tight first half, and an even more opportune goal from Dublin Star Paul Mannion saw Crokes the better by one score at the break.

Mannion and the sharp shooting of Mark Vaughan added two more for Crokes early into the second session. Conal Keaney and Barra McGarry added 0-03 to bring the sides level, but sadly for them that was to be their last three scores. For the remainder of the game Mark Vaughan, Cillian O’Shea, Andy McGowan, Paul Mannion and Aidan Jones hit eight scores combined to no reply.

This was an unbelievable win for Crokes as the reigning champions were dethroned.
