Lucan Sarsfields 2-08 St. Vincents 1-14

Lucan’s Andrew Hope almost upset St. Vincents party on Thursday night in Parnell Park with a late goal, but the strength of the Marino men shone through as they advance to face Ballymun this Wednesday in the Dublin Senior Football Championship Semi Finals.

On more than one occasion in this game, Vincents were in the driving seat and had opportunities to close it off, but Lucan to their credit, kept pushing back, having their own share of purple patches. They kept tight to Vincents right through the first half, with a Vinnies goal the only thing to seperate the sides.

Scores from everywhere on the pitch were the difference for St. Vincents with as many as ten members of the panel getting their name on the score sheet. Shane Carthy, goalscorer Ruairi Traynor and Mossy Quinn leading the charge.

St. Vincents experience and composure in the second session proved just too much for Lucan and despite the late goal, a piece of class from Diarmuid Connolly and substitute Albert Martin kept the wolf from the door, ending Lucan’s Championship run.
