Ballymun Kickhams 2-23 Raheny 1-08
Ballymun were just too strong for a battling Raheny in the first of Thursday night’s Dublin Senior Football Championship Quarter Final at Parnell Park.
The action started evenly. Alan Hubbard and Gavin Ivory, Karl Connolly and Brian Fenton exchanging points inside the opening minutes. But Ballymun hit the next four points – a Rock free, two from Jason Whelan and another Rock, after a foul on Kevin Leahy, to move Kickhams 0-6 to 0-2 clear.
Raheny continued to battle with Ivory adding two points later in the half with David Shatwell also adding a brace but Ballymun just looked more dangerous in possession.
Paddy Small grabbed the first goal of the game in the 24th minute with an brilliant finish at the end of a clinical move involving Ted Furman, Jason Whelan and Davey Byrne.
The majority of the game was dominated by Kickhams as Raheny tired and with five minutes of normal time left Ballymun had amounted a lead of 1-23 to 1-08.
But Ted Furman had the last word for Kickhams as he flicked the ball over Conor Burns into the Raheny net to finish off an emphatic performance for the red and green.
Ballymun secured their Semi Final place and will take on St. Vincents in a mouth watering tie this coming Wednesday in Parnell Park.
