All the action from the Ballyboden v Raheny Dublin SFC game on Thursday

Ballyboden St. Endas 4-06
Raheny 1-09

Ballyboden bounced back from their Round 1 loss with a 4-06 to 1-09 victory over Raheny in Parnell Park on Thursday night.

Despite losing midfielder Michael Darragh Macauley in the 54th to a second yellow, and Raheny aggressively defending their goal, Boden finished the winners

Raheny themselves had opportunities to make it a dramatic conclusion, but Aran Kelly’s goal attempt was cleared off the line by Seán Gibbons and Brian Fenton blazed another opportunity drift wide.

Boden’s were simply more clinical around the square which was the deal breaker in this game. Goals from Darren O’Reilly, Alan Flood and the Basquel brothers, Ryan and Colm, who all raised green flags to give the former county champions a 0-06 win.

At the break, Ballyboden were 3-3 to 1-6 in front, with Raheny’s goal coming just before the half time whistle when Aran Kelly took a huge pass from Brian Howard and flicked it into the net over the head of Conor Dooley.

Earlier in the half Darren O’Reilly had taken the first of Boden’s goals, palming the ball into the net after Macauley had done the hard work along the endline.

A well worked quick free by Ryan Basquel culminated in him firing to net after combining with Flood to give his side a 2-1 to 0-2 lead after 11 minutes.

Flood rocketed the ball into the Raheny net in the 28th following great work by James Madden to move Ballyboden 3-3 to 0-5 clear before an Eoin Keogh point and Kelly goal very late in the half cut the deficit.

Nine minutes into the second half came Boden’s fourth, when Colm Basquel followed up on a Flood effort that came back off the post to make it 4-5 to 1-6.

But Raheny continued to graft with two Gavin Ivory points, to keep their game alive.

But despite the loss of Macauley to a second yellow card Boden had enough of a cushion to hold off Raheny’s late rally.
