Tom Gray’s U20 Footballers will tackle Tyrone this afternoon for a place in the EirGrid All Ireland Final
Dublin v Tyrone
Saturday, October 17th. 2:00pm
Kingspan Breffni Park, Cavan
The long awaited EirGrid All Ireland U20 Football Semi Final will finally throw in thia afternoon in Cavan as Dublin battle to reach a second consecutive decider. The young Dubs reach last year’s final but were undone by Cork. And they’ve been waiting since March to face Ulster Champs Tyrone in this afternoon’s EirGrid last four clash.
It feels like a world away since Dublin beat Laois to claim the Leinster U20 title on an 0-18 to 0-08 scoreline. And from that team, Dublin manager Ton Gray has made three changes to today’s starting 15.
Back in the Leinster Final, after a slow start, Dublin came powering through against the O’Moore County. A first half score of 0-11 to 0-05 was extended as Dublin outscored Laois by 0-07 to 0-03 in the second session to comfortably clicnh their second consecutive provincial crown.
Conor Tyrrell, Mark O’Leary and Adam Fearon all make the starting lineup that also features the scoring threats of Kieran McKeon and Ciaran Archer.
Today’s Semi Final was scheduled originally for St. Patrick’s Day, but due to the country being locked down as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, we’ve waiting a long time for this afternoon’s action.
Should Dublin overcome Tyrone there’ll be a quick turnaround for the U20 Football Final next weekend.
