Five games over three dates in this year’s Dublin GAA Spring Series

Spring Series 2019 - Information

This year there’s a minor change to the format of the Dublin Spring Series. No hurling, which had become a mainstay in the events along with the Dublin Senior Footballers. But two games have been added from the Lidl Ladies National Football League, giving fans the perfect chance to see the reigning League and TG4 Senior Football Champions in action.

Last year Croke Park played host as Dublin recorded a triumphant victory over their long time championship rivals Cork, and this year we’ll be treated to games against both Donegal and Mayo. These games make up part of thirteen double headers announced by the LGFA this week, outlining the ever growing popularity of Ladies Football right around the country.

As for Jim Gavin’s Senior Football Panel, they look forward to Saturday night fixtures against Galway, Mayo and Tyrone. Playing all these sides on the road last year, Dublin recorded wins over Mayo and Tyrone, with Galway holding the League Champions to a draw in Pearse Stadium. Interestingly, Dublin’s only defeat in 2018 was against Monaghan under the floodlights of GAA Headquarters. But of course they made up for that, beating Galway in the League Final to reclaim the Allianz Division 1 title.
