Ahead of tonight’s highly anticipated Allianz National Football League meeting between Dublin and Mayo we take a look back at the last the sides met. That of course was the 2016 All Ireland Final replay at the start of October.
Both teams had played out one of the most bizarre games seen for many a year in Croke Park in the drawn final with Dublin in many ways lucky to get a second bite of the cherry. And it was another tight affair between these two great rivals with plenty of talking points throughout.
There was black cards for Dublin’s Jonny Cooper and Mayo’s Lee Keegan, some excellent points from players on both sides and Cormac Costello came off the bench toplay a starring role and hit three superb points to get Dublin over the line and claim back to back titles.
