DUBSTV Choose the best five scores from the recent Dublin SFC Quarter Finals

The Semi Finals of this year’s Dublin Senior Football Championship taking place on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. And DUBSTV have gone through the Quarter final tapes and chosen the best scores from all four games. And here’s the score they picked.

Ballyboden St. Endas 3-13
Na Fianna 0-15

The game between Ballyboden St. Endas and Na Fianna was the first of the four Quarter Finals with Ballyboden advancing. They swept away the challenge of Na Fianna, with the Basquel brothers, Ryan and Colm, registering 3-06 between them. And it was Ryan Basquel’s opening score of the game that caught everyone’s eye.

Just outside the D, Basquel shimmied away from Na Fianna’s Jonny Cooper and hit the perfect ball with his right, sending it high and between the posts to get Boden up and running.

Kilmacud Crokes 2-17
St Sylvester’s 0-15

In the first of two Sunday Football Quarter Finals, Kilmacud Crokes showed astonishing form as they shuck off the challenge of St. Sylvesters to claim the third of this year’s Semi Final slots. A penalty, and a second goal in the third minute of additional time brought the game to an abrupt conclusion.

The returning Paul Mannion and Callum Pearson led from the front sharing 2-05 of the Crokes scoreline. And despite a second half drive from Sylvesters, this game was pretty much over at the break.

But it was Ed Walsh of Sylvesters who showed amazing composure and skill while trailing 0-07 to 0-01 in the first half. With a pass from Dan Brennan into the right corner, Walsh faced three Crokes defenders, and showed calmness to dance around them, giving him enough space to take a good swing at the ball and send it over from a narrow angle.

Sylvesters get two slots in Top 5

Score number four in the Top Five also went to a Sylvesters player.

A definite change of tactic was needed from Sylvesters following the break and pushing Jack Hazley into the forwards seem to do the trick as they outscored Crokes by 0-03 to 0-02 in opening 5 minutes. With Crokes leading 0-12 to 0-05, Hazley caught a sweet high ball, turned and hit it with his left and over the bar.

St. Judes 2-9
Ballymun Kickhams 1-11

A fantastic Chris Guckian goal with three minutes left on the clock sent St Jude’s into this year’s Dublin Senior Football Championship semi finals, beating Ballymun Kickhams at Parnell Park in Saturday’s second game.

Kickhams led 1-10 to 1-6 with only seven minutes on the clock as the scoring excellence of Dean Rock look set to send them into the last four but the Judes men came with a hard fought finish to steel the win. Judes got off to the perfect start in the game with a goal inside the opening two minutes.

Kevin McManamon left his marker Dublin teammate John Small for dead and hit a perfect hand pass across the goal for Niall Coakley to palm the ball to the net.

St Vincent’s 1-21
Castleknock 1-9

St. Vincent’s comfortably beat Castleknock to set up a repeat of last year’s Senior Football Semi Final against St. Judes on October 14th.

But the opening exchanges gave an impression this would be a titanic battle.

At the throw in Castleknock immediately pounced with Tommy McDaniel finding net within seconds. Shane Boland with the assist, sent the ball right into McDaniel’s path. And all he had to do was use his right to flick the ball under the keeper and into the net
