Well the severe weather warnings heavily publicised by the media have sadly taken an event casualty, as people prepare for the arrival of ex-hurricane Ophelia.
This evening, The Helix in DCU were to host an official launch of Dublin Senior Footballer Philly McMahon’s autobiography “The Choice”
Unfortunately, the impeding storm conditions have put a stop to proceedings and the government and emergency services have asked all people to remain at home and safe until the worst of the storm has passed.
A tweet from the book’s publishers Gill Books this morning confirmed the cancellation.
Please note @PhillyMcMahon book launch tonight @TheHelixDublin with @TodayFM @cooper_m has been cancelled due to Storm Ophelia

Following the announcement, McMahon himself took to Twitter to apologise to fans hoping to attend the launch this evening.
What are the chances! Sorry everyone no book launch tonight 😢 storm ophelia you big sap. https://t.co/vaoB3Ph76X

As of now the event is yet to be rescheduled but the publishers hope to have more news soon.
Stay tuned.
