We’ll have all the action from Parnell Park with Live Updates in tonight’s O’Byrne Cup Semi Final

O'Byrne Cup Semi Final - Live UpdatesDublin v Meath
Saturday, January 12th. 7:00pm
Parnell Park, Dublin

What a packed weekend of action we have so early into the new year. The Dublin hurlers facing Galway tomorrow in Parnell Park. And of course tomorrow also sees the Dublin Ladies Football Dub Stars challenges talking place in DCU Sportsgrounds.

But tonight the focus will be on Parnell Park as Dublin’s Senior Footballers take on Meath in this year’s O’Byrne Cup Semi Final. It’s Dublin’s first competitive game of the year as they received a bye to this stage of the competition, avoiding the round phases.

Meath qualified for tonight’s Semi Final clash following a 1-20 to 1-13 victory over Wexford last weekend in Enniscorthy. This added to their opening round win over Laois was enough to recover from their defeat by Longford to advance. Meath led by 0-04 at half time against Wexford and a second half goal by Sean Tobin propelled Any McEntee’s side to a comfortable win.

In December the Dublin Senior Footballers lost to Meath in a challenge game to raise funds for the injured Sean Cox, but tonight the stakes are a little higher as a place in the O’Byrne Cup Final is up for grabs. And their opponents will be Westmeath, who had a comprehensive win over Longford this afternoon.
