After all the confusion over the seriousness of the injury suffered by Dublin’s James McCarthy leading up to the Leinster Final, the news that the Ballymun Star has returned to training will be welcome news for sky blue followers.
Dublin manager Jim Gavin when asked about McCarthy’s injury in his post Leinster Final interview was quick to ascertain that he expected McCarthy to be fit for Saturday week’s All Ireland Football championship quarter-final match.
But the following day news started to leak that McCarthy had actually suffered knee ligament damage and would struggle to be fit for the semi-finals if Dublin reached that stage.
But the news that the talented defender and one of the favourites for the player of the year award, has returned to training for the defending champions, proves that Gavin’s claim that McCarthy had just picked up a contaact injury to his quad and would be available for the quarters was correct.
And the word is that McCarthy has been moving very well in training and has been showing no ill effects to his recent injury.
