We’ll have all the action on Twitter from tonight’s Leinster Senior Football Quarter Final
Dublin v Louth
Saturday, May 25th. 7:00pm
O’Moore Park, Portlaoise
Tonight they square off for the 56th time with Dublin focusing on capturing their 58th provincial title. It would be their 9th in succession. And ultimately 2019 could be an historic year for Jim Gavin’s men, with a possible fifth consecutive All Ireland title at the end of the summer.
The Dublin manager has named a very strong starting 15. That includes 11 of the side that started in the 2018 All Ireland winning game against Tyrone.
Stephen Cluxton reclaims his place between the sticks in place of Evan Comerford who featured heavily for the Dubs during this year’s league campaign.
Michael Fitzsimons also make a return to the Dublin full-back line alongside Jack McCaffrey and Ballymun Kickhams clubman John Small also comes in for a starting berth.
In midfield, Darren Gavin is set for his Championship debut togging out alongside experienced midfield general, Brian Fenton.
Cormac Costello gets a chance to continue the great form he displayed in the National League. But there’s no place for Dean Rock, who registered nine points in their last league game against Cavan.
1973 was the last time Louth got a victory over Dublin. That was a replayed Leinster second round game. The men from the week county beat Wexford at Innovate Wexford Park in this year’s Leinster Qualifying round to earn their Quarter Final slot this evening. Behind by 1-14 to 0-14 in the 61st minute of the action, Louth launched eight unanswered scores to close the game out and snatch the win.
