Parnell Park, Dublin
Well Jim Gavin’s Senior Panel have once again successfully reached another All Ireland Senior Football Final, and they’ll be meeting their old foes from 1995, Tyrone. The games between these two sides are always exciting and intense so we can guaranteed a hotly contested final, with Dublin in search of the fourth successive All Ireland title, and their sixth this decade.
As usual the county is in a frenzy as people will prepare for the usual fight for tickets for the September 2nd clash. But let’s forget something that has now become tradition before the big day.
The Dublin panel will take to the Parnell Park pitch tomorrow night for their annual meet and greet where fans can get up close and personal with their heroes one more time before the big next month.
This year’s Championship
The boys in blue have successfully seen off the challenges of Donegal, Tyrone, Roscommon and Galway to book their place in the final, with Tyrone finishing behind them in the Super 8’s but beating Monaghan in a tight clash in Croke Park yesterday for the opportunity to play in a final for the first time since their victory over Kerry in 2008.
Tyrone and Dublin are no stranger to each other, having met in Healy Park twice already this year and on many occasions over the years. Dublin have won both times, beating the 2-13 (19) to 1-11 (14) in their Allianz National Football League Round 2 game. And when they met again on July 21st in Phase 2 of the Super 8’s the score was a little closer on 1-14 (17) to 0-14 (14). This time last year the two teams squared off in the All Ireland Semi Final and Dublin put in a comprehensive shift, beating Mickey Harte’s men 2-17 (23) to 0-11 (11).
But before they face again, make sure not to miss out on the opportunity to wish the Dubs well tomorrow night. And if you’ve been to one of these events before you’ll know that there will be a massive crowd in attendance, so make sure you get down early to get a good spot at the barrier. Admission is free for everyone so you have no reason not to attend.
