DUBSTV: On The Spot With Cian O’Sullivan

Another quick fire round of question, and it’s Cian O’Sullivan’s turn

Kilmacud Crokes and Dublin defender Cian O’Sullivan took time away from training to get the “On The Spot” treatment. You’ve been through it before with footballers like Dean Rock, Eoghan O’Gara, Darren Daly and Eoin Murchan. So everyone will be used to the line of questioning. Let’s hope there’s some controversial answers in there from the quiet man on the Dublin panel.

At the age of 30, Cian O’Sullivan has been a main stay in the Dublin Senior Football team since his Championship debut in 2009, and is one a few players to have witnessed all of Dublin’s success first hand since their first All Ireland win this decade in 2011. He has four National Football League medals, eight Leinster medals and of course five All Ireland medals to his credit. To add to that Cian has been awarded an All Star honour on two occasions, in both 2013 and 2015.

For Kilmacud, O’Sullivan has captured two County and two Provincial Championships along with an All Ireland title in 2009.

This Season

It’s been a rocky 2018 so far for Cian, suffering a dislocated shoulder in Dublin’s League fixture against Kerry. But being one of three Dublin players to start all five of their recent All Ireland winning Finals, it was going to take a lot more to keep Cian away from a potential sixth.

In his own words, Cian threw the kitchen sink at his rehab. And despite targeting the beginning of the Super 8’s competition for a comeback, he came off the bench in the Leinster Semi Final over Longford. This gave him a chance to push for a starting position in the final against Laois. Sadly he didn’t feature as the Dubs lifted their eight consecutive Leinster title, but O’Sullivan was a last minute addition to the starting 15 for last week’s opening Super 8 clash with Donegal in Croke Park and played to full 70 plus minutes.

But the most important things you want to know are, does he prefer Vanilla or Chocolate, Pizza or Chinese, who’s the worst dressed on the Dublin Panel, and of course what thing would he change about himself if he had the chance.
