Rising Star Brian Howard gets the quick fire treatment from DUBSTV

OK, you know the drill at this stage. We’ve seen Cian O’Sullivan, Eoin Murchan, Darren Daly, Dean Rock and Eoghan O’Gara go through their paces. We’ve even watched David Treacy, Tomas Connolly and Danny Sutcliffe do it for Dublin’s hurlers. And of course Ciara Trant and Fiona Hudson step up for the Senior Ladies Football panel.

But this time it’s the turn of a name on the tip of everyone’s tongues this year. It’s Raheny star Brian Howard. Brian has earned and solidified his place in the starting 15 of Jim Gavin’s Dublin Senior Football team this year. And did that right from the start of the Allianz National Football league. His impact was felt long before he showed his face. Even the likes of Diarmuid Connolly touted his name months before the start of the 2018 season.

Howard has played more minutes than any Dublin footballer in 2018. He’s started in 14 of Dublin’s 15 matches in the O’Byrne Cup, the National Football League and the championship. He’s now played well over 880 minutes this year. That’s almost three quarters of an hour more that Ciaran Kilkenny who chases him for appearance time.

Brian’s Immediate Impact

The young Raheny man only made a small number of appearances last year, which only proves how much he has developed in a very small amount of time. Last year Howard had made only two championship appearances, coming on for a combined total of 13 minutes in the Leinster semi-final and final. He showed the self-confidence, ambition, and decision making which has already seen him assume a leadership role for the three-in-a-row All-Ireland champions.

In the latest DUBSTV “On The Spot” video, Howard is asked the same set of of quick fire question his Dublin GAA colleagues have already been asked. We’ll find out who the worst dressed on the team is, the fastest and toughest opponents, and of course the all important “Chocolate or Vanilla” question we know everyone loves.
