Dublin’s Men’s And Ladies All Ireland Winning Teams And Respectice Managers Jim Gavin And Mick Bohan Shortlisted For RTÉ Sport Award

The Dublin men’s and Ladies Football teams and their respective managers Jim Gavin and Mick Bohan are among the nominees for the RTÉ Sport Manager and Team of the Year Awards.

RTÉ Sport have announced the shortlist for their Manager And Team Of The Year Awards and Dublin’s Men’s and Ladies Football teams and their respective managers are among the nominees.

Dublin’s historic five in-a-row All Ireland winning men’s football team and Dublin’s three in-a-row All Ireland title winning ladies team are among the nine teams nominated for the RTÉ Sport Team of the Year Award.

They are joined by Tipperary who won this years All Ireland Senior hurling title, Galway who beat Kilkenny to claim the All Ireland Senior Camogie title for the first time in six years.

Also nominated are Dundalk who secured the League Cup and Premier Division title, The Irish women’s hockey who qualified for the 2020 Olympics, Ireland’s show jumping team who qualified for the Tokyo Olympics next year, Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy Ireland’s lightweight double sculls crew who won a gold medal at the World Championships in Switzerland and Team Tiger Roll who entered the history books by becoming the first horse since Red Rum to win back-to-back Grand Nationals at Aintree.

Both of Dublin’s All Ireland winning managers Jim Gavin and Mick Bohan are among the nominees for the RTÉ Sport Manager of the Year Award.

They are joined by Liam Sheedy who guided Tipperary to the All Ireland senior hurling title and Cathal Murray who led Galway to All Ireland Senior Camogie glory in September.

Also nominated are boxing trainer Ross Enamait who has been in Katie Taylor’s three world title victories, Vinny Perth who in his first year in charge of Dundalk FC secured a League and League Cup double and Joseph O’Brien who became the youngest winning trainer at US racing’s showpiece, The Breeders’ Cup.

Darragh Maloney and Joanne Cantwell will present the 2019 RTÉ Sport Awards live on RTÉ One on Saturday 14 December at 9.20pm.

The Sportsperson of the Year award as well as the Young Sportsperson of the Year, Team of the Year and Manager of the Year awards will be presented and there will be a new inductee to the RTÉ Sport Hall of Fame.
