It’s almost upon us the final countdown to the 2016 All Ireland SFC Final is well and truly on and if it’s anything like the previous meetings it should be a cracking game. With that in mind we thought we would take a look back at one of those previous games.
So where better to start than last years All Ireland Semi-Final Replay played in front of a packed Croke Park in glorious sunshine and an electric atmosphere.
Mayo had snatch a draw the week before as they overturned a seven point deficit against a Dublin side that was slightly off the pace in the closing stages after an easy passage to the semi final.
Dublin were a much different outfit in the replay and although Mayo played well in the first half to see the sides tied at 0-10 apiece at the break.
Dublin and Mayo were still level midway through the second half, but a powerful surge in the final quarter from the boys in blue which included three goals scored by Bernard Brogan, Philly McMahon and a thunderous shot from Kevin McManamon, sealed victory for the Dubs by 3-15 to 1-14 and earned them a place in the All Ireland Final against Kerry which they won by three points.
