Tomorrow night sees all sides play out their Round 2 fixtures in the 2020 Dublin Senior Football Championship
We are literally steaming through the championship. And tomorrow night sees the next round of the Senior Football Championship. It won’t come as good new to fans that the government have today refused to increase the capacity at these games for the coming week. But nevertheless the games continue, and at a good fast pace.
So let’s look at how things stand going into tomorrow night’s games in the Senior 1 Football Championship. Here’s everything you need to know.
Dublin Senior 1 Football Championship – Round 2
Round Towers Lusk v Ballymun Kickhams – Lusk
Skerries Harps v Thomas Davis – Skerries
Table toppers Ballymun Kickhams and Thomas Davis avoid each other in Round 2, setting up a tasty final round clash that could be a dinger. But until then both sides will be looking to secure points tomorrow night.
Ballymun make the trip to Lusk to face Round Towers, who lost to Thomas Davis by 2-14 to 0-11 at Kiltipper Road. To keep their championship alive they’ll be hoping they can put in a good shift against Ballymun. For Thomas Davis they’ll be hoping to make it two for two when they head Skerries. Their 3-18 to 0-12 defeat in Round 1 puts them bottom on a -15 score difference.
Na Fianna v Lucan Sarsfield – St. Mobhi Road
Ballinteer St. Johns v St. Judes – Marley Park
Na Fianna will be hoping home advantage plays a vital role tomorrow night when they entertain Lucan Sarsfield. Lucan were 0-19 to 0-09 winners against Ballinteer St. John’s in Round 1 and a win tomorrow will all but secure their knockout spot. The Mobhi Road men will have other ideas.
St. Jude’s victory over Na Fianna in their opener will see them in good shape as they head for Marley Park, to face a Ballinteer side desperate for a win. We’ll not speak too soon, but the final Round game between Judes and Lucan could very well be the decider of the top two.
Clontarf v Whitehall Colmcille – St. Annes Park
St. Vincents v Ballyboden St. Endas – Pairc Na Uinsionn
It didn’t go to plan for Whitehall in Round 1 despite a good fight. Their defeat to St. Vincents by 2-15 to 1-13 sees them head for St. Annes Park to face a Clontarf side also in need of points.
For Vincents, it’ll be a torrid affair when they welcome Ballyboden St. Endas to Pairc Na Uinsionn. Boden Racked up 4-20 when they defeated Clontarf, and will be feeling confident about their trip to Marino. And it’s an opportunity for Whitehall and Clontarf to battle for vital points.
Raheny v Castleknock – St. Annes Park
St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh v Kilmacud Crokes – Martin Savage Park
After Round 1 Castleknock and Kilmacud Crokes are sitting pretty at the top of the Group 4 table. Crokes hold a massive +21 score difference after a 6-13 to 0-10 win over Raheny. And they’ll be venturing to Martin Savage Park to face St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh tomorrow night with great confidence. Plunketts have everything to gain from a good result, after a 2-15 to 1-11 defeat to Castleknock in Round 1.
For Castleknock, it’s a trip to St. Annes Park where Raheny will await. And after losing in a goalfest against Crokes, the Northside outfit will be hoping to get their championship back on track.
