The full round up of results in Round 2 of the Dublin Senior 2 Football Championship

Senior 2 Football

Round 2 of this year’s Senior 2 Football Championship took place over three days this week. Another eight senior football games with plenty of action around the county. Cuala, Templeogue Synge Street, Round Towers of Lusk and Fingal Ravens all lead their groups, with two more teams in each bracket knocking at the door.

Here’s all you need to know from this week’s results.

Dublin Senior 2 Football Championship Round 2

Group 1

Cuala continued on from their opening round win over Fingallians with a 2-10 to 1-12 victory over St. Maurs to claim the top spot in group one. They finish their group campaign with a game against Round Towers Lusk and will qualify for the knockouts regardless of that result.

Towers sadly lost their second consecutive game, this time at the hands of Fingallians who take a valuable two points to keep in contention of a last eight slot. But in the final round game against St. Maurs it will be winner takes all.

Round 3 Pairings:
Cuala v Round Towers (C)
St.Maurs v Fingallians

Group 2

They say goals win games, and it was three green flags that was the difference between Templeogue Synge St. and St. Anne’s. Synge Street record their second win on the bounce and will head to Balgriffin in the last round to face an Erins Isle side who’ve yet to register a result.

Isle’s were unsuccessful in their Round 2 fixture, losing to Naomh Mearnog. The Portmarnock side picked up a vital win after losing to Templeogue in Round 1, but face St. Annes in the final round, with both sides needing the result to go their way.

Round 3 Pairings:

St. Annes v Naomh Mearnog
Erins Isle v Templeogue Synge Street

Group 3

A goal seperated Whitehall Colmcille and Naomh Olaf in Round 1, with Whitehall snatching a victory. But sadly this week the goal the kept the sides apart this week was against Colmcilles who would have loved to secure their knockout berth ahead of Round 3. Instead it’s Round Towers of Lusk who have taken maximum points from the first two games.

Naomh Olaf have the unenviable task of facing Towers in the last round, with Whitehall going head to head with St. Patricks of Palmerstown, who have yet to get a win under their belts.

Round 3 Pairings:

St. Patricks (P) v Whitehall Colmcille
Naomh Olaf v Round Towers (L)

Group 4

Ravens are two for two and leading Group 4. A 0-02 winning margin was enough over St. Mary’s of Saggart. But Mary’s are still in with a shout. Parnells lost their second consecutive game, this time to St. Peregrines.

Mary’s and Peregrines will meet in the final round to decide who will be joining Fingal Ravens in the last eight.

Round 3 Pairings:

Fingal Ravens v Parnells
St. Mary’s (S) v St. Peregrines
