And we arrive at that point in the week when we announce the We Are Dublin, Dublin Player Of The Weekend.
For our new followers who joined over the last seven days who don’t know what this is, it’s an award we give to the player that we think was the standout out Dublin player from the previous weekends intercounty action.
There was plenty of Ladies Football and Camogie action last weekend with the Dublin Senior Ladies in action in the Leinster Final, the U16 Ladies Football squad in the All Ireland semi-final, the Dublin Senior Camogie squad in championship action, the Premier Junior Camogie squad were also played in championship, as were the U16A and U16B Camogie Squads.
But our winner this week comes from the TG4 Leinster Senior Final which seen the Dublin Senior Ladies Footballers claim an historic fifth title in a row.
To be honest every single player from the game was up for consideration such was the team performance last Sunday as the girls in blue annihilated Westmeath.
But the player we have chosen was just outstanding on Sunday. She put in a shift and a half, that was ferocious in its work rate, precision passing, link play, tackling, and score taking.
We are of course talking about Nicole Owens who put in a player of the match display in the Leinster Final and finished with 0-06 to her name to boot, all of those points came from open play and Nicole had her hands all over many other Dublin scores and moves.
Nicole had a stellar and prolific underage career and she has continued in that vain at senior level and is improving with every single game, which will make her a frightening prospect to face for opposing defences.
So it’s congratulations to the deserving winner of this weeks We Are Dublin, Dublin Player Of The Weekend Award, NICOLE OWENS.
