Dublin fabs will not need to wait long to get a glimpse of the new crowned All Ireland Champions as Jim Gavin and his men will bring Sam Maguire to Smithfield Plaza this afternoon for a family friendly event.
In an absolutely pulsating game yesterday evening in Croke Park, Dublin dug deep and saw off an immense challenge by Mayo to win back-to-back All Ireland titles.
The Lord Mayor of Dublin and Dublin City Council invite all fans to Smithfield Plaza this afternoon to celebrate with the Dublin team, backroom staff and the county board on this historic occasion.
Jim Gavin and his panel are expected in Smithfield around 4:30 this afternoon and this is an open invitation for anyone who would like to come along and show their appreciation.
This is a family friendly event and will be alcohol free. Access to Smithfield Plaza is via North King Street, Friary Avenue and Thundercut Alley. Dublin City Council are asking people to use public transport when travelling to and from the event. Fans should note that Smithfield Luas Stop could be closed between 4:30pm and 8:00pm; the Four Courts and Museum stops will remain open during this time. Fans are also asked to arrive early for a good vantage point and to be prepared for changeable weather.
