The dream of a second consecutive Dublin Senior Championship is still alive as Ballyboden St. Endas took one step closer today, beating St. Judes in the first of this weekend’s football Semi Finals.

Simon Lambert and Robbie McDaid both raised green flags in a 2-11 to 1-11 victory over the 2018 senior finalists.

The reigning champions were just two points ahead before Lambert scored his vital goal late in the second half. But Jude’s fought to the end thanks to a Simon King goal shortly after.

Niall Coakley cut the gap to two points before Tom Hayes tapped over the insurance score to send the reigning champions into the final.

Robbie McDaid’s found the net in the 7th minute of the opening half to give Ballyboden an early advantage, before a point from Ryan Basquel helped them into a 1-4 to 0-2 lead.

At half time the Firhouse men were 1-07 to 0-06 to the good. They sadly lost Declan O’Mahony to a black card, but it didn’t dampen their desire. After the break both sides traded scores. Coakley and Basquel among the target finders for their respective sides.

But it was Lambert’s goal that ultimately proved the decisive moment for Ballyboden. They finished the today’s clash on 14 men after goalkeeper Darragh Gogan was red-carded.

Boden will now go onto face either Ballymun Kickhams or Kilmacud Crokes who face off in the second Senior Football Semi Final tomorrow at 4.30pm in Parnell Park.
