Dublin v Galway
Saturday, August 11th. 5:00pm
Croke Park, Dublin
It’s almost time to make the trip to Jones’ Road along with the throng of fans from both Dublin and Galway for the first of two All Ireland Senior Football Semi Finals this weekend. Monaghan and Tyrone will get their chance tomorrow, but first up its the reigning All Ireland Champions facing the Tribesmen of Galway.
These two sides have already met twice this year, with the first match ending in a stalemate, and Dublin capturing the league final against them in the second. But Galway will come to Croke Park this afternoon with a new vigor and optimism, with a place in the 2018 All Ireland Final at stake.
For Dublin, they’ve named a very established and strong starting 15 meaning they’re as always taking this game very seriously and view Galway as a real threat to their All Ireland Crown. Jim Gavin’s men will want to once again re-write the history books as the drive for their fourth consecutive Sam Maguire is still on course.
This is Galway’s first All Ireland semi-final appearance in 17 years so several irksome itches have been scratched. Last time they were here they went onto win the All Ireland, beating Meath.
Still Galway will be completely aware that this represents the most demanding test of them all: Dublin at Croke Park remains a daunting proposition.
